ANNA LONG

ON DEPUTATION WITH TEAM THAILAND

ABOUT

Birthday  7/8

I was born in Nigeria, Africa to David and Terri Long who were missionaries

My parents are happily married and have shown me what a Christian home life is

like. My oldest brothers are Daniel and Nathan and I am the youngest and the only girl in our family. When we were living in Africa we did have a house maid who lived in a little house behind our main house and helped my mom with different household responsibilities.
My dad was a missionary my whole life and ministry was a big part of our lives growing up. He is a hard worker and plans ahead for the future. He is very good with people and is outgoing and has a good sense of humor. 1 have had a very good relationship with him my whole life and continue to do so.
My mom was a stay at home mom my whole life, and homeschooled my two brothers and l. She is very good with people and has a good relationship with them. 1 have had a very good relationship with her and continue to do so.
Growing up with my brothers we generally had a good relationship. There were times that we argued, but there was never anything major and we would always resolve our issues. We did travel a lot together whenever we would be back for furlough. My brothers Daniel (29) and Nathan (27) are both single and currently are not in church.
1 went to a Christian school in Maryland for my Kindergarten year and 3rd grade, other than that I was homeschooled for the rest of it. We used Landmark curriculum for my elementary grades and A.C.E. for my later years. The two years that 1 went to school I never had problems with my teachers. My favorite subject in school was spelling. 1 did not do extracurricular activities, and I never quit school.
For all four years of my college life I lived in the dorms, and I was very blessed to have excellent roommates and never had any problems with them. 1 never changed majors and finished with my bachelors in Elementary Education. One of the ways that 1 really felt that I matured in college was not letting myself get discouraged by those around me that would change their ways. 1 used to get really upset when I would learn that someone would leave the ministry or change their standards or convictions.
Although, it does make me sad when I see that happen I have learned to focus on God Who never changes and to keep my eyes on Him and not on others.
My hobbies growing up were reading, archery, horseback riding, and ice skating.
1 never dated in college.
1 am not aware of any extreme likes or dislikes that would affect me. 1 consider my strong points to be my people skills and my ability to be an encourager. 1 would consider my weak points to be stressing over the future and over things that I have no

control over. 1 am not unusually sensitive and I do a good job of keeping my emotions in check. 1 do sometimes struggle when it comes to reading because I do not have a lot of time to do so, although I do listen to audiobooks at work sometimes.
1 never had a time of rebellion in my life. 1 have never fainted, had great fatigue, depression, oar nervous breakdown. 1 have never sought help from a psychiatrist or psychologist.
When I was working at the girls’ home in Missouri, one of my coworkers was a great help and blessing to me. 1 was struggling with something and she was able to talk with me and prayed with me about the situation. l’m grateful God put her in my lite.
When I was working at the girls’ home in Missouri, 1 was able to talk with one of the girls there. She was struggling with what to do about a specific situation that had happened to her at home before she carne to the school. She was specifically struggling with forgiving that person and letting go of it. 1 was able to use more specific examples from my lite to help her see that holding on to bitterness is not worth it and it affects us and those around us. 1 believe I was able to help her by giving her a few personal examples.
For my personal daily devotions I use a prayer journal, notebook, and am currently reading little bits of a book by Amy Carmichael. 1 still have room to grow in so many areas of my lite. 1 work on it daily and am trusting God to show me what I need to work on and change.
Mrs. Debbie Martin was the lady in charge of the girls’ home in Missouri that l worked at. She got to observe me as I worked with my coworkers and how we all worked together

  • Anna Long Prayer Letter: My Very First Prayer Letter!Welcome to my very first prayer letter!

I started off the year by being a part of a Missions Conference at First Baptist Church in Hammond, Indiana. I had the opportunity to teach a teen girls’ class, teach in their Christian school, and be a part of their radio program. It was such a blessing to be a part of this conference!

I was able to attend a Ladies’ Conference in Dupont, Indiana, where I was able to set up my display table and meet pastors’ wives. The conference was such a blessing to me, as well as an opportunity to meet ladies in ministry.

In March, I was able to present my ministry in two different churches in Indiana, one of which took me on for support! During one of the meetings, I had a special blessing happen that I would like to share with you. I was able to connect with Ruth and Rachel McClain, who are college students and attend the church that took me on for support. Their parents are currently serving as missionaries to Thailand and doing a great work there. Many years earlier, they were at a Missions Conference presenting their burden for Thailand. When they presented their work, a little girl surrendered to go to Thailand. I was that little girl, praise the Lord! I was so blessed to be able to meet their daughters many years later and get to know them for a little bit. We never know who is watching us serve the Lord and how that may impact what they do. Just keep on serving the Lord!

While looking forward to ministry in Thailand, I continue to serve in the bus ministry. I recently led one my bus girls, Maddie, to the Lord. A couple of weeks later, she got baptized in church.

Prayer Request: I spend most of my time reaching out to churches to continue to set up meetings. Please pray that I will get in contact with the right people.

Thank you for your prayers and support!
